New England is drowning in deluge of rain; I am glad it is not snow because I do not want snow days to cause school to crawl into my summer. I am hoping for a brisk, dry winter because, “I’m tired of screwing up, I’m tired of going down. I’m tired of myself, I’m tired of this town.” Last Dance with Mary Jane - Tom Petty
Yesterday night I was on the drive through window, which is just like being in school. I stand around, talk, and stare out a window for about eight hours. The only problem is that yesterday it was raining crazy and I was being spit on by people’s windshield wipers if they were on the fastest setting. That added to the fact that the rain was drumming the microphone attached to my ear made it an interesting and somewhat frustrating evening.
I was almost fired because I knew we did not take Canadian money. The unwritten policy is to give it back to someone else as change. I thought we were supposed to return it to the customer and ask for other payment – the written policy. Yesterday, a woman gave me a handful of Canadian quarters and I handed it back to her and asked for American money, but apparently throwing it back at them and screaming, We don’t take Monopoly Money here! Give me real money or get fat somewhere else! We will see what happens after the police finish their investigation.
In other news, tonight is the Foo Fighters/Weezer concert brought to me by my second job’s paycheck and the good people at Sally Dally Do, Kell Belle, and of course: Alex Vance who bought me gift certificates to iTunes because they are so incredibly generous. I will post about that later, I have to get back to my teaching and learning.
Foo figthers AND Weezer?!?!? I'm so jealous! Since I can't go, I'll just go to my local fast-food establishment and try to use Monopoly money. Maybe if I bat my eyelashes they'll accept it. Bwa ha ha.

It has been pretty nice here, with a little rain to green up the lawn that I fertilized. What great timing for a change. Speaking of change, people are always slipping me a Canadian coin. It is very frustrating.

Back in the Mesazoic era, when I worked a cash register, I always kept some Canadian coins in the extra change bin and gave them as change to anyone who paid with Canadian money. If they complained, I would say, "Sorry, I assumed you were Canadian and would rather have your home country's currency."

Rainy days always make work more of a trial.
