I am sorry I have not written in a bit. My life has been an unprecedented whirlwind. I have found a job and will be moving to Phoenix, Arizona to teach – but this all happened suddenly.
My goal, my dream of moving to El Paso to teach was smashed Monday but the revelation that despite being a highly qualified, well-educated teacher I am not eligible for certification there. This is quizzical to me because they cannot find enough good teachers there and they have one certified by three states and one religious body, a master’s or three degree in progress and experience in varied parts of the country and school is somehow not good enough for the State of Texas. Just who does the State of Texas think they are? The State of Arizona thinks they are my new employers and they are absolutely right.
On Monday I decided to apply in Phoenix. On Tuesday several principals called me to set up interview me. On Wednesday I had ten interviews with five principals representing four schools and received four offers for jobs and today I settled on one of them and am still in the process of contacting the other principals to decline their gracious offers of employment.
This is on the Internet and sharing that and where I am in teaching is quiet enough. Beyond doing whatever it is that gives Alex Vance so much time to be so cool or holding Suburban Island’s coat, this is my dream job. I am teaching the grade and discipline that I would like, I have somehow landed in an excellent school in the job I have always wanted.
My parents are relieved. My friends are elated. For them this is an answer to their prayers – they were tired of seeing me emerge from work, a broken as a coal miner, looking at my feet before turning around going to a second job whose paycheck underwrites the first. I will be making enough money to live. I will be at a school that can pay me and give me benefits.
Onward and upward to the next big adventure
Congratulations! You deserve it.
