I have moved into my new apartment, which is really just a room in someone else’s apartment but the rent is fair and I am close to where I work so I am very happy with how things have worked out. I will miss walking to work; I will not miss being so close to work. However, I am not actually in the new apartment seeing as I forgot to get the keys from the roommate before running on an errand with LR. Seeing as I do not have my own place to live yet I do not have my own internet; I am writing this on LR’s computer, using her internet connection to post this, and going to Starbucks to do any picture posting, instant messaging, or other activities that require using my own computer.
However, Starbucks is less than ideal location and I am still investigating free/low cost wireless access in the area because T Mobile’s hotspots are far from hot at the rates they charge. The charge, which is nominal to own the truth, is not really the problem nor is the fact that I feel awkward being there and not drinking something (I try something new every time) but the music they play – which comes from XM Satellite Radio.
I refuse to believe that XM Satellite Radio is this terrible. People pay a great deal of money for that radio service and it just stinks. For two hours I listened to Reggae covers of Olivia Newton John’s Physical, John Denver’s Country Roads and other songs so terrible that they should never have been sung in the first place, much less covered by another band. I am hesitant to put on headphones and listen to my own music in a public place, I had also left them in the trunk of my car and was too lazy to go grab them. When Ace of Base’s The Sign was being covered it was my cue to go ahead and go home. I needed to do something: walk LR’s dog, hang up a ceiling fan, or build an ark against the eventual Biblically proportioned flood but I could not endure this music much longer.
It seemed to me a kind of torture to get you to finish your coffee and scoot on to your next engagement for the day. I had prepaid so I was going to serve my time, latte in hand, because the new job pays better but not so much better than I can disregard ten cents. I am working on better, hopefully free, wireless connections but for now I am afraid that I will have to go back into Starbucks and face the music.
I am so glad you are semi settled:)

I can't imagine those covers--they would gag me as well. (like New Age elevator music?) I have only had to blog from Starbucks once when our house flooded in Dec. I didn't like the feeling either. Enjoy your new place. When does school start?
